The AI Champion Role

An AI Champion is a developer within a cross-functional team who drives AI adoption locally, acts as the team's point of contact for the AIR program, and keeps information flowing between their team and the wider Champion community.

Responsibilities

How it works

DevEx works with Team Leads to identify Champions — there is no formal nomination process. Once you are a Champion, the role carries real responsibility: you are your team's voice in the program and the program's voice in your team.

Champion meetings are kept intentionally small so discussions stay focused and actionable. Teams typically have one or two Champions. In larger teams, two Champions may rotate who attends meetings so both stay connected without it becoming a burden.

Time commitment

Time commitment scales with your team's size. A Champion in a large team coordinates across more people and contexts. A Champion in a small team spends less time on coordination, but their team benefits just as much — the program produces guidance, processes, and materials that are shared across all teams regardless of size.
